Tyler Kerry, a 20-year-old British man from Basildon, Essex, tragically died after being found at the bottom of a lift shaft in a hotel in Antalya, Turkey.
The accident happened around 7 AM local time on Friday. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but sadly, they could not save him.
Family and Authorities Look for Answers
The reason behind the lift-shaft incident is still unknown. Turkish authorities have started an investigation to find out what happened.
Tyler’s family, with help from TUI representatives and British consular officials, are waiting for more information. Tyler’s uncle, Alex Price, said the family doesn’t know the full story yet and is “in the dark about what’s happened.”
A Life Full of Promise
Before he died, Tyler worked as a laborer and had plans for his future with his girlfriend, Molly. His family described him as kind, mature, and caring, especially towards his younger siblings. They shared how much he loved his family and was planning a stable life with Molly.
Support from the Community
People in the community have shown kindness by raising almost £5,000 through online donations to help Tyler’s family with funeral costs.
Plans are in progress to bring Tyler’s body back to the UK by Tuesday. The Foreign Office is helping the family with the international process.
